Haybails and Mice

One of the most enjoyable things do to on the farm as youngsters was to flip over the bails of hay and catch the mice that would scatter. After catching them we would make little homes for them to live in. Well this one time we caught a few mice and took them out into the field to chase them around. This was in a part of the field that the grass had been grazed on so it was really short. We let them go and they scattered this way and that, we whooped and hollered until we caught them again. This happened a few times until one ran right under Angie's foot and "SPLAT" that was the end of that little mouse. Well she was so distraught that we had to end our fun times and leave the field. It is great to think that a few mice could entertain us so much, what fun it was to live on a farm.
