A Shotgun and Prairie Dogs
There were a few things that I really enjoyed doing on the farm but I would have to say that the most fun was when dad would plow the fields and let us ride along to shoot the prairie dogs that came out to see what was making the ground shake. It was great when you would get one but when you would get two or three with one shot it was so much better. I know that they were a pain when it came to flood irrigating the fields and keeping the horses safe but they sure were fun to have around. There were several other ways to get rid of them, for example we would fill five gallon buckets up with water from the canal and pour them down the holes to flood them out. When they would run out... well let me just say we had shovels. All of the ways to rid the fields of them were fun but ridding along with dad was so much more fun. Even to this day we are still forming bonds with guns in our hands... Thanksgiving was a blast this year. Thanks everyone.
